Science with apples

Today we did three activities with apples...we predicted if our seeds would sink or float...if an apple would sink or float...and tested what would happen when you mix baking soda and vinegar together!!!

Activity 1 will our seeds sink or float?

Float was a very strong prediction! 

So what did they do?

They sank!!!

Activity 2...Will our apple sink or float?

It seems this time we were leaning towards float...so what did the apple do?

It floated!!

Activity 3...apple eruption

This was the activity I think they could not wait for!

We all wondered what would happen when we mix the baking soda and vinegar...there were lots of thoughts from nothing at all would happen to the apples would explode!!!

Well after round 1 (I did not have my science hat on and mixed ingredients ahead of time) so someone was corrext and nothing happened :(

(Look at the dissapointment) 

But this is science so we fixed our process and voila

Round 2 worked!

Day 4!!

Today we tasted some yummy apples and voted on our favorites it was close for awhile but red pulled through!!

We even measured with our apples!! Thank you Ms.Parker for being our guinea pig 

We all seemed to love exploring our apples today 

Day 2!!!

We learned all about the life cycle of an apple and how the seasons affect their growth!!

Apples, Apples, Apples

This week we will be learning with apples. We will be practicing sorting, graphing, and experimenting. Please send any kind of apple (red, yellow, green, small, large) if you are able to with your child to school on Wednesday September 16, 2015.
